Guizhou Province & Shanghai Charter School Student Visit

This past week (Jan 15-20, 2018), Pine Valley Resort hosted some members from the Junior Provincial Team of Guizhou Province and the Kindergarten-Grade 1 students from a Shanghai charter school.

Like Pine Valley Gym Centre athletes, they competed last weekend at the Gym Power Gymnastics competition held annually in Edmonton. We are so happy we were able to provide a unique experience for the athletes, coaches and teachers as most of them had never seen snow before!

They participated in tubing, skiing, and snowboarding and by the end of the week had the hang of it. Besides winter sports, they tried local Canadian cuisine including roasted marshmallow on the fire pit. Through Inspire Sports, they also visited the RCMP Headquarters in Edmonton to learn about the history and go through the physical testing.

We would like to thank our community members for helping us in providing such great opportunities!

The Pine Valley Gym Centre in Tawatinaw began as a dream to provide a high-performance training centre for gymnasts. Now, close to 10 years later, the facility has evolved to bring recreation opportunities to young amateur gymnasts.

“Especially with this generation and technology, we want kids to stay active and lead active and healthy lifestyles,” said Bobby Kriangkum, spokesperson and head coach, about the mindset of the family-run business. “We’re teaching kids how to be active, how to make good choices when it comes to staying busy, and how to have fun while doing it and learning.”

Alberta Winter Games Trials 2017

December 15, 2017

This past weekend at Pine Valley Gym Centre, we hosted the 2017 Trials to Alberta Winter Games and Canada Winter games. This was the first competition that we’ve held at Pine Valley and we are so overwhelmed by the amount of support we’ve received from our local community and the greater provincial gymnastics community!

The trials were hosted by the Alberta Gymnastics Federation and over 215 gymnasts from across the province competed in our gym in Tawatinaw. Of these athletes, PVGC had two of our own compete in the trials. Mehr Kaur and Jayde Semashkewich represented PVGC with great results! Jayde placed 3rd in her session and was chosen to be a part of the Alberta Winter Games team and will be attending the games in Fort McMurray during February of next year.

We would not have been able to host such a fantastic event without the help of all our volunteers and staff, without them none of this would be possible, so thank you! We’d also like to thank all the AGF staff, coaches, and judges who helped make the competition run smoothly and on time, as well as congratulate all the athletes who qualified in their zones to the Alberta Winter Games.

We’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this a success and look forward to hosting similar events in the future!
